Tokyo by Night Train or Airborne?

January 22, 2010 Leave a comment
I saw this video posted by Clementine on her Posterous MicroBlog @ http://post.ly/JMGl

Excellent use of reflection to give a perception of being airborne and traveling through a futuristic metro.
The music – I am in love with it – enhances the video even more.

To get a more ‘sensible’ view of the video, take a piece of paper or card and lay it across the screen roughly halfway up – along the ‘horizon’ line.

Pants on the Ground | The Song

Pants on the Ground!

This is a song that became an instant success after it was sung as part of an American Idol audition by a General Larry Platt of Atlanta, GA.  It would be pretty much obvious that the General did not make it through to the next round in the competition, but he still achieved fame and celebrity status. No, to correct myself, he did not achieve celebrity status, the song did. The General shines in reflected glory.

When I first heard the song – I don’t really follow the American Idol show that much to want to sit through all the painful auditions – I immediately related it to be a song about the recent clothing trend of wearing the pants well below the butt while showing off the brand and design of the underpants. Those that wear their pants this way walk like a duck with two left feet. Seen from the back, I have not been able to work out how on earth they make thepants ‘sit’ just at that right level. I think it possibly, probably, maybe is a combination of dexterity in using the Gluteus Maximus to keep the pant from moving up and the awful waddle to keep the pant from falling all the way down! Or is it the other way around?

Today, however, the mystery was humorously revealed on Twitter as well as the numerous FWD:s email.

The mystery of Pants on the Ground revealed:

I dont want to over generalize here in saying that a majority of the youth who prefer to wear their pants such-like are African Americans. It was heartening to see – when I watched the YouTube video – an African American write and perform this song on a show that went out to millions of people world wide.

He has done all of us, who opine that such a fashion trend is in fact pulling all Humanity to the Ground!

Thank you, General Platt.
