One of the first Indian-Idols, Abhijeet Sawant re-invents himself and released his latest album, Junoon, recently. Abhijit, I believe, is one of the’pioneer’ Indian Idol who won the competition and received the coveted Indian Idol, on merit. Rather than on playing the media and the voting system, as the latest Indian Idol competition showed & proved!
Junoon’s title track is ‘Junoon’. However there are a couple of songs in this album which has really caught my eye and ear and I find myself listening to those more often. One of them: Ek Shaqs.
Ek Shaqs is written by Saeed Quadri and composed by Mithoon. A wonderful pair, equally complemented by Abhijeet rendition. One of the few songs, like Khamaj by Fuzon, which has got everything just right.
Ek Shaqs is about that one person or persons, each of us have in our past, to whom we attribute a very sad memory arising from a moment. A moment where everything falls apart, a moment which then takes us back to all the ‘good’ memories we shared with that one ‘Shaqs’.
