A link was sent to me via email with a video of this song being sung by one of the contestants SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2007 on Zee TV. A very nice easy listening tune and song. Turns out that this song is by a band from Pakistan called Fuzon (a form of ‘Fusion’!) and the song title – Khamaj.
This is a tune which would appeal to both young and old. Here it is below. Have a listen.

Some songs come along once in a while, which just make it difficult NOT to like them. For me, this song is one of those and also ‘Jaane Kya Chahe Mann’. IMO, these songs are already in the Evergreen category.

I think if you really like these songs then I hope you’ll simply love songs of Pt. Ajay Pohankar from album “Piya Bavari” which showcase a beautiful amalgamation of Indian classical ragas and Modern instruments, just check them out. Also “Saanware” from movie Bandit Queen and 2-3 songs of Omkara too fall in this category.

Piya Bavari has been a favorite of mine, practically from the day it came out, a few years ago. Under the classical fusion genre, Piya Bavari would be towards the top of the list.
Saanware by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan from the film Bandit Queen, is truly truly a wonderful song. For me the best parts of the song is NFAK’s classical rendition of the word ‘ Saanware ‘ in the song. Take a listen and you will ‘hear’ what I mean.

Hey Rakesh I Instantly became a fan of this song when i first heard it .
Pt. Ajay Pohankar’s “Piya Bavari” is also one of the few songs i can hear 24*7 without getting bored.
I did’nt like the song “tere bina” also by fusion… the music was not good.
Can you please tell me a list of few other songs like these.
